6th August 1711. Honord Sir, & Rev[eren]d Gentlemen, Application having been made to the Society for Propagating the Gospel in Foreign Parts, that they wou’d give some encouragement to one Mr Ross Reynolds a Schoolmaster of St Bartholomews Parish in Colliton County (who it seems has taught several Young Indians to read and write gratis; and it being suggested to us by the same Person that if the said Mr Reynolds were allowed to settle in some place much nearer the Yamousee Indians; it might Conduce greatly to the Civilizing and Converting that people to our Holy Religion; and the said Gentleman having also Inform’d us that he intends Gov[erno]r & Clergy of Carolina.
6th August 1711.
